Message from the Band Director

Hello JET Band Families,

I know there are still a lot of unanswered questions about what school will look like and what kind of season we expect to have in band. We are in the process of figuring that out and hope to give you more information on our Zoom parent meeting Monday night. Everything is extremely fluid right now because each time the Governor, the Texas Education Agency, the UIL, or any other local official makes a new ruling it changes not just what we can do but how we do it.

At this time, we are still planning on having a marching season of some sorts. Currently all football games, UIL band contests, and non-UIL band contests are all still scheduled. We are following all guidelines established by UIL and TEA.

Summer band is scheduled to start for everyone on July 27th.  In order for us to plan those days and create protocols to keep everyone safe, we need to do an informal poll to see how many students we will be serving during summer band. 

This survey is just for band planning purposes. If you wish for you student to attend the Katy Virtual Academy, between July 20 – August 5 you will log into Powerschool to make that decision. 

One thing of note that has been asked is if my student chooses to attend KVA during the school day, will they be allowed to attend after school band rehearsals.  Both UIL and KISD have approved that.
