Special JET Band Booster Blast 11/19/20

Message from Michael Ary, Director of Bands

Senior Recognitions

Next Friday, Nov 27th we will recognize our Seniors and their parents. The Clear Springs band will not be traveling next week so we will have our Sr Recognition AND perform during halftime.  Here’s how that halftime will work:

Senior parents in attendance will have to purchase a ticket to enter the stadium (the purchasing link will be sent via Remind on Sunday evening).

Seniors can wear their fun Senior Hats in the stands, but during the Elton performance they will have to wear their shako. If your Senior wants to wear their Senior Hat when they are recognized, you can bring it down on the field and after our performance they can exchange the performance shako for the Senior Hat.

At the beginning of halftime while the band and Pacesetters are taking the field to perform, Senior parents will need to head down onto the field via the stairs in the band seating area.  While the Pacesetters are performing, Senior Parents can social distance in the area in front of the band.

Pacesetters will perform and then do their Senior Recognitions.

At the conclusion of the Pacesetter recognitions, we will perform Elton for the last time here in Katy.  I encourage Senior parents to come up to the front sideline and watch your Senior perform up close (just please stay a few feet away from the front sideline so you don’t catch a piece of color guard equipment and of course, maintain social distance from other families).

After our performance of Elton, we will push the band back behind the front hash mark and the Seniors will walk forward to the front sideline and join you.  When your student is announced, you and your Senior will walk out onto the field to be recognized.  Once all the Seniors are announced, the band will play a fight song off the field so you’ll want to move off the front of the field so you don’t get ran over by a tuba.

Your student should fill out https://forms.gle/4y58E1fw3jhoUtNJA if they haven’t already. It was sent out via Remind on 11/19.

Klein Cain Game

The Friday, Dec 4th game at Klein Cain was just cancelled. There is no plans to reschedule a game that week.  This is actually good news for us as their stadium was going to have half the band down on the track in chairs and half in the stands so we don’t have to mess with that AND our students will be more rested going into the big UIL Area contest the next day.

UIL Area Contest

The Area schedule was released yesterday via a Remind text. (Click here for the schedule.)  Also attached is a Parent Letter about the UIL Marching Contest. (Click here for the Parent Letter.) Please read it for information about purchasing tickets, parking, COVID regulations.  Of note is anyone wanting to enter the stands must purchase a ticket online, even chaperones.  There will be no tickets sold on site.  Only ground crew pushing equipment that plan on remaining down on the field during the performance will be admitted into the stadium for free.

I hope everyone gets some rest and quality family time next week. Stay safe, keep wearing your mask and washing your hands, eat more than you should, save Mr. Ary a piece of pecan pie (if you laughed at that, thank you for reading to the bottom of the email) and we’ll see you Friday morning for our last regular season football game (info about our first playoff game will be forthcoming).
