JET Band Booster Blast 9/20/20

It’s football time in Texas. This week we have our first game against Cy Springs at Legacy Stadium this Thursday evening at 6pm. 

Rehearsals this week are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 3:30-6.

UIL always allows a one-hour warm-up/rehearsal before performances, so Thursday we will rehearse from 3-4pm. This is earlier than our usual 3:30 start, please plan accordingly. From 4-5pm we will load the trailer, students will go through inspection with their section leaders, and we will feed the students. Students are not allowed leave campus between rehearsal and our departure for the game. At 5pm students will line up out in front of the school. Our buses may or may not be ready at that time; if they aren’t we’ll start taking roll and be ready to board once the buses get there. (Click here for the itinerary)

The 6:00 kick-off makes it difficult for us to get to the game and get into the stands before kick-off. We are at the mercy of the buses finishing their afterschool routes and the drivers then coming to pick us up. We will not be in uniform for this game, so that will make it easier to get into the stadium upon arrival.

The “uniform” for this game is our black marching shoes, black socks, our black JET Band performance shorts, and our blue JET Band performance shirt. If your student ordered items that they have not received yet, please do the best you can to get them as close to uniform as possible. If you don’t have our performance shorts, plain black shorts would work well.  If you don’t have our blue performance shirt, their JET band shirt they received in 8th grade or another blue Taylor HS shirt would work well.  If you don’t have your black marching shoes yet, just wear your tennis shoes you wear to practice every day.

Please remember to sign-up for our Remind texts (@jetband20 to 81010) as we will send a Remind as we are leaving Legacy so you know when to pick up your student. When we get back on campus, things can be a bit chaotic as we are trying to park the buses to unload the students, park our 18-wheeler to unload our equipment, and parents are trying to get into the parking lots to pick up their student.  PLEASE click here for the JET Band Traffic Plan. Note that the front bus loop is off limits for student pick-up after games. The preferred student pick-up after games is back by the parking garage.

While we are talking about parking: out by our rehearsal field gets a bit chaotic and I’m concerned about student safety back there. Too many students are being dropped-off out in the middle of the drive between parking spaces. Cars are going all over the place and students are walking in all directions during peak times. If you cannot drop-off/pick-up your student off by the curb outside the freshmen center, please pull into a parking spot and let your student in/out there. The first drive by our parking lot is the worst. If you could pull into parking spaces two or three rows south of our parking lot, that would be much safer. Or better yet it may actually be quicker to have your student take a few more steps and be dropped-off/picked-up out in front of the freshmen center – there is next to no traffic there.

Uniform Fittings: Seniors are being fitted Monday (9/21) immediately after rehearsal in the band hall; Juniors will be fitted Tuesday after rehearsal; and Sophomores will be fitted Wednesday after rehearsal.  Freshmen will be fitted Monday the 28th immediately following rehearsal.

Football season is here!  Thank you to everyone who helped to make our Money Day a success.  All students are required to submit the gear form with their purchase of the show shirt and drill book app along with any needed gear.  We are still missing some students.  If you have not ordered necessary gear for your student and miss this window, they will not have what they need when the band begins to perform in uniform.  Ordering links are below.

Money Day

Money Day has now passed. A response on the gear ordering link is required of all students, even if they don’t need to order gear!  All students are required to order their show shirt and the drill book app.  There is nothing that students need to do to access the drill book app until Mr. Ary provides further directions.  Here are the gear form links once again:

If you have a student with an allergy or dietary restriction, please submit this form as soon as possible so that we can take the information into consideration for meals.  There is an additional fee for vegetarian meals which is paid on the gear form.

Uniform Fittings

Students will go to the band hall to be fitted for their uniforms after rehearsal on the following days:

  • Monday 9/21- Seniors
  • Tuesday 9/22- Juniors
  • Wednesday 9/23- Sophomores
  • Monday 9/28- Freshmen

Students should bring their marching shoes to the fitting if they have them.

Activity Fee

Band Activity Fee payments are now being collected.  The $100 for BOA has been deducted since that trip has been canceled.  The total fee is now $550.  All students are required to pay the activity fee, regardless of in-person or virtual class attendance.

Access your Charms account to pay via credit card.  Go to, click ‘Charms’ option; 

  • The user code will already be entered, then ‘Enter Charms’ to put in your password.  The password will be your child’s ID unless you/your child personally changed the password on the account.  Password resets will not be available until August.
  • Click the red $ icon at top or the Wallet Icon on the bottom.  Your Child’s Misc Financial Ledger will be visible
  • Scroll down and there will be an option to “Make a Misc. Payment”.

The ordering process will be a little different this year.  You will complete the online order form then receive an invoice via email once your total has been calculated and any questions have been answered.  Production on your order will start once your invoice has been paid in full.  You can pay your invoice with a few clicks online.

Volunteer Needs

We use the Helper Helper app to manage volunteer opportunities throughout the year.  Please visit to register.  Once you receive an email with your temporary password, you will be able to download the Helper Helper app and see open opportunities.  This is a manual process, so you will not receive your password right away.

Every student and parent must register with a unique email address.  The email address will be your username, so if you share an email, you will not have your own account.  We use this system to track membership in the booster organization and track volunteer hours.  It is also a great way for students to keep track of their service hours (great for leadership and scholarship applications).

There is a supply of used band gear that is available to anyone who can make use of those items.  If you are in need of band gear or would like to donate, please email David & Christy Bailey at to make arrangements.


Earn money for your student’s Charms account with money that you had planned to spend anyway!  This is a great way to add money to your student’s account through rebates and lessen your out of pocket band/guard expenses.

Spirit Wear/ Items

There are two ways to order spirit items- through or through our band and guard SquadLocker shops.  The items on our website are ordered in bulk and delivered at specific announced times. 

Order your JET Band and Color Guard gear on your own at any time through our SquadLocker shops for delivery directly to your home!  Those orders are individual and will be shipped to your home directly from the manufacturer.
