Message from Michael Ary, Director of Bands
Thank you to everyone that came out on Friday for our premier performances and shaved ice. It was a great evening!
Last Friday your student had their first major grade in band. They emailed in a video of them performing the first 16 pages of the contest show to their section leaders. By now the section leaders should have let your student know if they passed-off the assignment or not. If the leader felt your student did not pass-off the assignment, they forwarded the video to me for grading. If your student did not pass-off the assignment I will let them keep resubmitting until they do pass it off at an acceptable level. The purpose of these video assignments is not to fail anyone but to get everyone performing their show at an acceptable level. Their 2nd video assignment of pages 16-34 is due this Friday, the 30th.
We still have a lot of outstanding paperwork that is due by this Friday. If you will log-in to your student’s Charms, you should be able to see if they have turned in all their required paperwork. By now everyone should have turned in their Commitment Form, Handbook signature page, Consent to Treat & Travel, Overnight Trip Rules, UIL Acknowledgment, and Physical. We have also posted a list on the blue door leading out to the hallway. If your student doesn’t have all X’s by their name on the door, you have missing paperwork. If your student doesn’t have all paperwork in by Friday, they aren’t getting on the bus and will receive a Zero for the major grade of the performance. Please take care of this today so you aren’t scrambling on Friday to be able to get on the bus.

We have finally wrapped up our 2019 March-A-Thon with a goal-busting total of $32,156! Thank you one last time to everyone who helped to make this a successful event. Meeting our goal ensures that we are able to meet our budget commitments to provide what our students need perform and compete this year. Surpassing our goal allows us to provide assistance to those students who might not otherwise be able to afford participating in band and color guard. The generous support of matching donations from alumni donors has helped us to establish the JET Band Student Assistance Fund. To donate specifically to the JET Band Student Assistance Fund, use the donation page on our website jetband.org/donate and specify “JET Band Student Assistance Fund” in the comments.
Our first football game is this Friday! I hope to see the stands full of Taylor blue and cheering loudly as we debut our Mustang show at half-time. The itinerary for the evening is attached. If you are able to help, please sign up in the Helper Helper app.
If you have a student with an allergy to Tide or detergent scents, please email email@example.com today to ensure that your student’s uniform is labeled appropriately.

Band Activity Fee
Band Activity Fee payments are now being collected. Following the payment schedule, there are two ways to pay:
1. Place your check made out to JET Band Boosters into a sealed envelope, labeled “Student Activity Fee”, with your student’s name. Have your student place the envelope in the safe in the band hall.
2. Access your Charms account to pay via credit card. Go to www.jetband.org, click ‘Charms’ option;
- The user code will already be entered, then ‘Enter Charms’ to put in your password. The password will be your child’s ID unless you/your child personally changed the password on the account. Password resets will not be available until August.
- Click the red $ icon at top or the Wallet Icon on the bottom. Your Child’s Misc Financial Ledger will be visible
- Scroll down and there will be an option to “Make a Misc. Payment”.
All current payments that have been made towards the activity fee are shown as posted to your student’s account. The corresponding charge for the activity fee will be posted after school starts. Please email Treasurer@jetband.org with any questions.

This year, we have new specialty backers and several new trinkets to choose from. All of these are on display in our mum cart which will be on display in both the Main Commons and 9th Grade Commons during lunch on a rotating basis. Come by to get more information, pick up an order form, and/or place your order! Completed order forms can be turned in WITH PAYMENT during lunch at the mum display or placed in the box marked “MUM ORDERS” in the front office.

Clear Bag Policy
Click here for the Katy ISD clear bag policy which will be in effect at football games this year. Bags are available to purchase with the T-Band logo in our online shop at shop.jetband.org To pay by cash or check, include payment in an envelope labeled with student’s name and quantity requested of sling bags or square stadium bags.
Each student that uses a school instrument is to pay $80 per year, per instrument. The fee is an annual fee, regardless of the amount of time that the instrument is used. Payment can be made via check, made out to KISD along with the Maintenance Fee Agreement form, turned in to the band safe in a labeled envelope. Payment can also be made through Charms > RevTrak with a 2% processing fee. School code is JETaylorBand
The first round of polos, hats, and t-shirts have been delivered. There are a few remaining orders that can be picked up at the front of the band hall near Mr. Ary’s office. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any issues or questions.
We now have new spirit wear options available through two new online shops. Items in these shops will be shipped directly to you rather than being ordered as part of a group. These shops will be available throughout the year and 5% of each sale will go to the JET Band Student Assistance Fund to help provide for those students who may have a need for help with meeting the expense of participating in band and guard. Generous alumni parents have offered matching funds for donations to the JET Band Assistance Fund. If you’d like to help, you can donate in any amount by check made out to JET Band Boosters, in an envelope labeled “JET Band Assistance Fund”, dropped into the band safe.
