Message from Michael Ary, Director of Bands
Saturday night’s banquet was a great time! I hope you were able to join us and enjoyed the celebration as much as we did. Thank you to the student committee that organized the banquet. And huge thanks to booster President Shakira Luna and Treasurer Nichele Adeogun for their exhaustive efforts in making the night happen.
This evening is the annual THS percussion concert here in our PAC at 7pm.
This Friday evening our drum line will be performing at the KISD Volunteers In Public Schools Movie Night at Legacy stadium.
The 2nd round of color guard auditions are this Tues-Thurs.
Percussion audition camps are Wed-Fri this week.
Wind audition video recordings are due next Monday.
Next Thursday evening is our end of the year concert featuring all 5 of our concert bands. The detailed schedule will be released next week – we are hearing the PAC capacity could be changing again so we’ll wait a week before publishing a schedule.
SAT & ACT Dates for 2021-22 School Year: We have entered the SAT & ACT dates for the 2021-22 school year into the Charms calendar. All of the ACT dates look to be clear. Two of the SAT dates are on marching contest dates so students must avoid signing up for those tests. There is an SAT on August 28, I would highly encourage any student needing to take the test in the fall to take that test. The October 2nd test is on the day of the BOA Katy contest and very well could have a morning performance time. The November 2nd test is on BOA San Antonio so we’ll be out of town. There is one more test on December 4th that will be available. We are currently discussing big spring trip options with travel agents so it is possible that we will be on our trip on the March 12th SAT date.

Message from Shakira Luna, Band Booster President
Thank you to the student planning committee and adult volunteers who helped to organize and hold a fantastic banquet on Saturday! Special thank you to Jenny Singson for the fantastic videos and programs and Josie Hungerford for helping out in such a huge way at the last minute. We appreciate Coach Agiannidis for allowing us to use his screen and for donating his time.
We are coming to the end of the school year. There is one general booster meeting left next week on Tuesday, May 11th at 7pm. This will be an important meeting in which we vote on our budget and executive board for next year as well as announce our audit committee. Please make plans to attend.
The finance committee will be finalizing next year’s budget this week. Now that the fiscal year is coming to a close, we will be discussing a final rebate of student activity fees. The final approved amount that will be returned to each student account will be announced in the next blast.
Color Guard Auditions
Help grow our color guard and be a part of the top ranked guard program in Katy ISD! Auditions are a great way for students to come out and give guard a try and to see if they are interesting in developing the required skills. No experience is necessary! All students entering grades 9-12 who are zoned to Taylor High School are eligible. Audition details and registration link can be found on this flyer. Please pass along to friends who may be rising freshmen or new to Taylor!
