Message from Michael Ary, Director of Bands
It was a unique marching season that I will always remember. I am very proud of the performance our students put together this season. I am glad that our students’ abilities improved this season and we had a great time putting the production on the field.
While our part of the marching season is now over, we still have football games to attend. This Friday is the first football game down at Ft Bend ISD Mercer Stadium at 7pm (Click here for itinerary). Ticket info will be sent out via Remind as soon as we receive it. We will keep playing football each week until we lose a game.
There are a lot of auditions this week. All brass, woodwind, and percussion have their 2nd semester class placement auditions due to us by 2:35 this Wednesday. Students that signed up for the TMEA All-Region audition have their recordings due by midnight this Wednesday. And our winter guard is having their auditions after school this week.
Message from Shakira Luna, Band Booster President
We made it! Congratulations on making it through a one-of-a-kind marching season. In addition to all of the usual moving pieces that are always required, we had parents stepping up to design and sew bell covers in an effort to keep our kids safe this season. While our competitive marching season is over, we do still have some football games to attend. Please stay engaged and continue to come out and volunteer as we proceed into the playoffs.
Now that we are no longer having regular band rehearsals, it will primarily be up to parents to continue to remind your child to follow COVID protocols and social distancing guidelines. If you’ve been watching the news for the past few weeks, it was predicted that there would be a further surge in positive coronavirus cases after Thanksgiving. We want to continue to keep our students safe by paying attention and taking quick action at any signs of illness. You can click here to find more information about district policies.
To be clear, neither the band staff nor any member of the booster organization are privy to any students’ personal health status, nor can we share that information if we are made aware of it. I would recommend that we all continue to diligently protect our own children and families, in addition to paying attention to any emails that come through from the school or the district.
Our next General Booster meeting will be tomorrow night at 7pm. Zoom info is in Helper Helper and in our Facebook group. I look forward to seeing you then!
Band Activity Fee payments are now past due. Parents have been sent a current statement for all students showing any remaining balance owed. All students are required to pay the activity fee, regardless of in-person or virtual class attendance.
Access your Charms account to pay via credit card. Go to www.jetband.org, click ‘Charms’ option;
- The user code will already be entered, then ‘Enter Charms’ to put in your password. The password will be your child’s ID unless you/your child personally changed the password on the account. Password resets will not be available until August.
- Click the red $ icon at top or the Wallet Icon on the bottom. Your Child’s Misc Financial Ledger will be visible
- Scroll down and there will be an option to “Make a Misc. Payment”.

Yearbook Early Bird Special
Early bird rates now available for you to order the 2020-21 JET Band & Color Guard Yearbook! (hard bound, 88+ color pages) Yearbook sale price is $35 (regular $40). All early bird personal ad packages come with a free copy!
Last day to order at these prices is December 31, 2020. For questions and to inquire on personal or business ads, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
In lieu of our garage sale this year, we will be holding on online auction in the early spring. We are looking for good quality items to be donated. This year, rather than quantity, we are going for quality! Please start thinking about anything that you may have that you would be willing to get rid of. If you are a business owner or know a small business owner- a donated item, experience, or gift card would be a fantastic way to advertise your business. Since the auction will be online, we hope to advertise it far beyond the bounds of our JET Band community. Please send any questions or comments to email@example.com. Have an item that you are ready to drop off now? Email firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements. We will have a couple of scheduled item drop off dates after the holidays.
Please begin to think forward to how you might like to step up to serve the JET Band next year. If you have been volunteering with a particular group or crew, please ask that coordinator about shadowing them if you are interested in taking on more responsibility. Now is the time to start gathering information from our graduating senior parents so that we have a smooth transition for next year.
We use the Helper Helper app to manage volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Please visit tiny.cc/helpjetband to register. Once you receive an email with your temporary password, you will be able to download the Helper Helper app and see open opportunities. This is a manual process, so you will not receive your password right away.
Every student and parent must register with a unique email address. The email address will be your username, so if you share an email, you will not have your own account. We use this system to track membership in the booster organization and track volunteer hours. It is also a great way for students to keep track of their service hours (great for leadership and scholarship applications).
Here is some additional information on the open positions that are remaining along with contact info for additional questions. If there is no other contact info provided, please email email@example.com if you are interested in any of the following opportunities:
Scrips (Help to advertise the Scrips program, assist with orders and recordkeeping, and deliver any physical gift card orders- firstname.lastname@example.org )
Concert Uniforms (Measure students for fit and organize distribution of concert uniforms)
Marching Uniforms (Measure students for fit and organize distribution of concert uniforms, supervise student uniform crew. Marching.email@example.com ) We are still looking for someone willing to be trained to take over this position!
Used Band Gear
There is a supply of used band gear that is available to anyone who can make use of those items. If you are in need of band gear or would like to donate, please email David & Christy Bailey at firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements.
Earn money for your student’s Charms account with money that you had planned to spend anyway! This is a great way to add money to your student’s account through rebates and lessen your out of pocket band/guard expenses.
Scrips for physical gift cards will be ordered according to the following schedule for the year:
Orders will be placed at 8 am on the following dates.
|Order Placed||Estimated Delivery Date|
|January 25th||Janaury 29th|
|February 22nd||February 26th|
