JET Band Booster Blast 12/1/20

It’s almost December and we are getting to the very end of marching season! Rehearsals this week are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please have your student check the weather each day and dress appropriately. Students are still supposed to wear their white shirts to rehearsals; they can layer as much as needed under the white shirt.

Please remember the Friday football game was cancelled.

This Saturday we have the UIL Area Contest up at the Cy Fair Berry Center. (Click here for itinerary.) If you are planning on attending, hopefully you have purchased a ticket by now as they are expected to sell out. When they do sell-out, they have said they will sell tickets the day of as people leave the stadium (so if 100 people leave after the first band, that opens up 100 tickets to sell).  CFISD is also supposed to livestream the event so you can send the link to family and friends to watch from home: click here for the event page with a livestream link at the bottom. The livestream will not be recorded or archived; anyone wishing to watch online must watch live.

Unlike a normal marching contest in a non-pandemic year, we will not be allowed to stay and watch any other bands.  This is a get there, unload, warm-up, perform, load back up, and go home contest.  At the conclusion of the contest around 9:45pm, the head directors from each band will meet and that’s where they’ll release scores and name the 3 bands that advance to the UIL State Marching contest in San Antonio on December 15th

2nd Semester placement audition videos for the Woodwind and Brass players are due Wednesday, December 9th by 2:35pm.  Details about the audition and how to submit were sent in Canvas.

Message from Shakira Luna, Band Booster President

We survived a stormy Senior Day!  Thanks so much to all of the staff and volunteers who toughed it out to make that happen for our seniors and all of our students in challenging weather the day after Thanksgiving.

Hopefully you’ve purchased your tickets for the contest on Saturday.  We want to be loud and proud as we cheer on our kids at the Berry Center this Saturday.  Please read Mr. Ary’s information carefully so that you are prepared for the day.  Here is another link to the parent letter for the day which has been shared previously. Activity Fee

Band Activity Fee payments are now past due.  Parents have been sent a current statement for all students showing any remaining balance owed.  All students are required to pay the activity fee, regardless of in-person or virtual class attendance.

Access your Charms account to pay via credit card.  Go to, click ‘Charms’ option; 

  • The user code will already be entered, then ‘Enter Charms’ to put in your password.  The password will be your child’s ID unless you/your child personally changed the password on the account.  Password resets will not be available until August.
  • Click the red $ icon at top or the Wallet Icon on the bottom.  Your Child’s Misc Financial Ledger will be visible
  • Scroll down and there will be an option to “Make a Misc. Payment”.

Volunteer Needs

Please begin to think forward to how you might like to step up to serve the JET Band next year.  If you have been volunteering with a particular group or crew, please ask that coordinator about shadowing them if you are interested in taking on more responsibility.  Now is the time to start gathering information from our graduating senior parents so that we have a smooth transition for next year.

We use the Helper Helper app to manage volunteer opportunities throughout the year.  Please visit to register.  Once you receive an email with your temporary password, you will be able to download the Helper Helper app and see open opportunities.  This is a manual process, so you will not receive your password right away.

Every student and parent must register with a unique email address.  The email address will be your username, so if you share an email, you will not have your own account.  We use this system to track membership in the booster organization and track volunteer hours.  It is also a great way for students to keep track of their service hours (great for leadership and scholarship applications).

Co-Chairs Needed

  • Scrips  (Help to advertise the Scrips program, assist with orders and recordkeeping, and deliver any physical gift card orders- )

Coordinators Needed

  • Concert Uniforms (Measure students for fit and organize distribution of concert uniforms)
  • Marching Uniforms (Measure students for fit and organize distribution of concert uniforms, supervise student uniform crew. )  We are still looking for someone willing to be trained to take over this position!

Used Band Gear 

There is a supply of used band gear that is available to anyone who can make use of those items.  If you are in need of band gear or would like to donate, please email David & Christy Bailey at to make arrangements.


Earn money for your student’s Charms account with money that you had planned to spend anyway!  This is a great way to add money to your student’s account through rebates and lessen your out of pocket band/guard expenses.
