Message from Michael Ary, Director of Bands
What a journey it has been! Our competitive season has come to a close. A huge thank you to all the parents that volunteered this past weekend to get us to San Antonio, to get us fed, to get us checked into the hotel, to get our equipment on and off the field, and to keep us safe all weekend. Also another huge thank you to everyone that helped this season. It truly takes a village and we have a pretty awesome village.
If you didn’t catch our final performance of the season, our videographer Alejandra Paez is sharing our video on the booster facebook group. Also there are some great still photos at Flomarching.com.
This week we have a Thursday evening football game. (Click here for game itinerary) We will not rehearse after school until Thursday. During halftime on Thursday we will recognize our Seniors and their parents and then we’ll combine with the Katy HS band to play a medley of armed forces tunes in celebration of Veterans Day.

Message from Shakira Luna, Band Booster President
Our competitive marching season has come to an end with a great last performance of Empty Spaces in San Antonio. I’d like to give one last huge THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who made this year’s marching season such a success. This program does not run without our parent volunteers and you all got the job done again and again throughout this season!
Big thank you to all of the senior parents who contributed to the dessert after BOA on Saturday. The cobbler and whipped cream was a big hit, and much appreciated after a long day. There were a few dollars left over from the donations, which will be contributed to the JET Band Student Assistance Fund. Thank you!
Our next general booster meeting is tonight at 7pm in the band hall. We will be discussing the JET Band Jingle Parade and upcoming events for concert season. Hope to see you there!
As we move on to our winter guard and concert season, please continue to read the blast for important information each week regarding fundraisers and concert performances, as well as auditions and contests for winter guard. Marching season may be over, but our kids continue to perform!
Please check your student’s Charms acct for any unpaid balances. At the end of this month, names will be sent to the front office to have holds placed on students’ school accounts.
If you haven’t received any email statements this year via Charms, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We may not have your correct email address.
Picture Day: Nov. 14
Students will have their portraits taken (in band uniform or color guard show outfit) on November 14, Thursday during their band classes. Click here to download the order form. Please have your student bring the form and payment on that day if you’d like to order photos. For questions, email email@example.com.
Winter Guard Auditions: Nov. 14-15
Winter Guard is the indoor competitive season for color guard. We will have 4 competing groups with students from grades 6-12 at all experience levels. Any student in grades 6-12 (even band students) may audition. Auditions will be held next week on November 14-15th at 5:00-7:30pm in the THS Main Commons. Please spread the word to anyone you know who may be interested, particularly younger siblings or friends with experience in dance or gymnastics and a willingness to work hard and learn some new skills. Send any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
JET Band Jingle
Just when you thought marching season was over, it is time to plan our 2nd annual JET Jingle! (December14) More information about songs and concert stops will be coming soon, but we are looking to fill some specific volunteer needs soon. Please contact Kristin Abel at email@example.com if you are interested in one of these positions.
- Bake sale coordinator – lead the team to set up bake sale items at the park for serving after the concert
- Refreshments coordinator – lead the team to set up water and hot chocolate at the park for serving after the concert
- Santa’s helper – Collect donations for pictures with Santa at the park
- Santa’s sleigh decorating coordinator – Collect decorations and coordinate the team to decorate Santa’s sleigh
Save the date! Our annual mattress fundraiser will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020.
The parent meeting will be held on February 4, 2020. This is a major fundraiser for us which involves no donations and very little work other than raising awareness in the community that we are holding the sale. More details coming soon!
Reserve your copy of the band yearbook! Click here to order online and place personal ads. Or click here to download the order form and send your cash/check payment to the band hall. For questions or interest in helping with the yearbook, email Jenny Singson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Spirit Stores and JET Band Assistance Fund
Missed out on the group spirit wear orders? Looking for something different and new? Check out these two online shops for more spirit wear and gear options! Items in these shops will be shipped directly to you rather than being ordered as part of a group. Cold weather gear including hats, jackets and an array of hoodies are available.
These shops will be available throughout the year and 5% of each sale will go to the JET Band Student Assistance Fund to help provide for those students who may have a need for help with meeting the expense of participating in band and guard.
Generous alumni parents have offered matching funds for donations to the JET Band Student Assistance Fund. If you’d like to help, you can donate in any amount by check made out to JET Band Boosters, in an envelope labeled “JET Band Assistance Fund”, and drop it into the band safe.
Please be aware that you can see the work of our tireless photographers at any time by visiting the Jet Band website. Photos are added each week.
