Message from Michael Ary, Director of Bands
Playoffs this Saturday Nov. 23 vs. Memorial at Legacy Stadium. (Click here for game itinerary)
Santa Cops: if you hear your student talking about needing $2-5 to donate by this Friday, our students are sponsoring three students this year in the KISD Police’s Santa Cops program. Drum Majors are collecting donations from each section – woodwinds to Will Stroud, brass to Emmie Siebert, and guard/percussion to Corey Lee. Over the Thanksgiving break, our Student Leadership team will go shopping for our three students based on the wish lists they provided.
Region Band: The regular High School and the Freshmen Region Band audition entries are due this Wednesday, 11/20. The QR code to access the google doc is on the whiteboard in the band hall. Entries are $20 (payable to JET Band), so a freshmen signing up for both the HS and Freshmen track would need to pay $40.

Message from Shakira Luna, Band Booster President
Mustang Fight Never Dies! We have one more week of playoff football with a game on Saturday at Legacy vs. Memorial HS. If you are available to and you are on one of the support teams (chaperones, loading crew etc.), please look for those opportunities to help.
We have a deadline tomorrow for donations for our Project Grad wine basket. Please contribute, no amount is too small! We are planning a holiday get-together to show appreciation for our volunteers. Stay tuned for those details, coming soon.
Congratulations to the members of our winter guards who started preparing for their competitive season this weekend. (Click here for winter guard roster) This is the first time that four winter guards will compete in a season for Taylor High School.
Please be sure to follow Taylor Bands on social media for announcements throughout the week. We have several students who earned placement in Region Orchestra last week and senior recognitions have been going out on Twitter over the past several days.
For those of you who volunteered at the concessions stand for BOA or the Katy Marching Fest, you will remember Ken Rakoski from Katy HS, who was the organizer along with his wife Edna. Please click here to read his thank you message.
Please check your student’s Charms acct for any unpaid balances. At the end of this month, names will be sent to the front office to have holds placed on students’ school accounts.
If you haven’t received any email statements this year via Charms, please send an email to email@example.com. We may not have your correct email address.
Project Grad Basket
Project Grad is hosting the holiday home tour in December. Each year, the band donates something to be raffled/auctioned at one of the houses on the tour. This year, we will be putting together a wine lovers’ basket. We have already secured tickets to some wine events and we are looking for additional donations from band parents. You can donate items or cash and we will purchase the wine and accessories. To donate, you can send cash or a check with your student to give to Dian Holson in the 11th grade attendance office. Venmo is also an easy option @dianholson. If you have wine to donate, please text Dian at 832-723-4320. Deadline for donations is November 20th.
JET Band Jingle
Just when you thought marching season was over, our 2nd annual JET Jingle Tour is right around the corner! The Jingle Tour is Saturday, December 14th, from 2-4 PM, marching through Green Trails from the community pool to the park on Crescent Green. The JET Band will entertain the neighborhood with songs at Reindeer stops along the route, and donations will be taken for cookies, refreshments, and pictures with Santa at the park. You can see the route map HERE and order your Reindeer stops HERE.
Helper Helper will be updated with volunteer needs this week, but we are looking to fill some specific volunteer needs today. Please contact Kristin at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in one of these positions.
- Refreshments coordinator – lead the team to set up water and hot chocolate at the park for serving after the concert
- Santa’s helper – Collect donations for pictures with Santa at the park
Save the date! Our annual mattress fundraiser will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020.
The parent meeting will be held on February 4, 2020. This is a major fundraiser for us which involves no donations and very little work other than raising awareness in the community that we are holding the sale. More details coming soon!
Reserve your copy of the band yearbook! Click here to order online and place personal ads. Or click here to download the order formand send your cash/check payment to the band hall. For questions or interest in helping with the yearbook, email Jenny Singson at email@example.com.
Spirit Stores and JET Band Assistance Fund
Missed out on the group spirit wear orders? Looking for something different and new? Check out these two online shops for more spirit wear and gear options! Items in these shops will be shipped directly to you rather than being ordered as part of a group. Cold weather gear including hats, jackets and an array of hoodies are available.
These shops will be available throughout the year and 5% of each sale will go to the JET Band Student Assistance Fund to help provide for those students who may have a need for help with meeting the expense of participating in band and guard.
Generous alumni parents have offered matching funds for donations to the JET Band Student Assistance Fund. If you’d like to help, you can donate in any amount by check made out to JET Band Boosters, in an envelope labeled “JET Band Assistance Fund”, and drop it into the band safe.
