Message from Michael Ary, Director of Bands
Thanks again to all the parent volunteers who helped at Saturday’s game.
This shorter week we have a Friday football game (Click here for the itinerary). Rehearsals this week are Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. The goal this week is to finish getting the drill to “Daniel” on the field while we continue to clean the rest of the production.
We are now two weeks out from our first marching “contest.” The Katy Marching Festival is now Tuesday, October 27th. Unlike years past this will just be a judged pre-UIL performance featuring only the KISD bands. We perform at Legacy at 8pm that night. More details about that day will come as we get closer. Then 3 weeks after the KMF contest is our real UIL Region contest on Tuesday, November 17th. UIL Area contest is Saturday, December 5th at the Cy Fair Berry Center. And then if we advanced, UIL State Marching contest is December 15th in San Antonio (yes, I realize that is during Semester Finals – I’ve asked how that would work but haven’t received an answer).
Progress Report grades are due this Friday, October 16th. We had a good handful of students who lost their academic eligibility at the 6 weeks Report Card. If those students are passing all their classes at the October 16 grade check, they’ll regain eligibility on October 23rd. If your student is one of those who is ineligible, please help them stay on top of their grades this week and get all their work turned in.

Message from Shakira Luna, Band Booster President
Thank you so much to all of you who volunteered and came out to support our kids at the game on Saturday. We have a short week, so please be sure that you and your student are paying attention to any Remind messages and new opportunities as they pop up in Helper Helper.
I have resent temporary passwords to anyone who has registered, but not logged in to HelperHelper. Please check your spam/junk folders for that password so that you can log in to the app. If you have not received it and know that you registered at tiny.cc/helpjetband, then send an email to president@jetband.org and we can troubleshoot what’s going on. If you have not yet registered, that is the first step to be able to see volunteer opportunities.
We are taking orders for mums, mini-mum and garters at tiny.cc/mums2020. See the section below for more information.
Our next general booster meeting is tomorrow night, October 13th at 7pm on Zoom. The link will be in the Helper Helper opportunity and posted in our Facebook group. This week, we will try to stream live in the Facebook group as well. Fingers crossed, we’ll see if it works. 😊 Please join us for the meeting!
Activity Fee
Band Activity Fee payments are now due. The $100 for BOA has been deducted since that trip has been canceled. The total fee is now $550. All students are required to pay the activity fee, regardless of in-person or virtual class attendance.

Access your Charms account to pay via credit card. Go to www.jetband.org, click ‘Charms’ option;
- The user code will already be entered, then ‘Enter Charms’ to put in your password. The password will be your child’s ID unless you/your child personally changed the password on the account. Password resets will not be available until August.
- Click the red $ icon at top or the Wallet Icon on the bottom. Your Child’s Misc Financial Ledger will be visible
- Scroll down and there will be an option to “Make a Misc. Payment”.
Please email Treasurer@jetband.org with any questions.

Mums
Please tell your friends about the mum sale and share on social media! Place your order at this link: tiny.cc/mums2020. Don’t forget about garters for boys and mini-mums for moms and siblings. There are take home kits available to order as well as the typical custom-made mums, mini-mums, and garters.
The ordering process will be a little different this year. You will complete the online order form then receive an invoice via email once your total has been calculated and any questions have been answered. Production on your order will start once your invoice has been paid in full. You can pay your invoice with a few clicks online.
Volunteer Needs
We use the Helper Helper app to manage volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Please visit tiny.cc/helpjetband to register. Once you receive an email with your temporary password, you will be able to download the Helper Helper app and see open opportunities. This is a manual process, so you will not receive your password right away.
Every student and parent must register with a unique email address. The email address will be your username, so if you share an email, you will not have your own account. We use this system to track membership in the booster organization and track volunteer hours. It is also a great way for students to keep track of their service hours (great for leadership and scholarship applications).
Here is some additional information on the open positions that are remaining along with contact info for additional questions. If there is no other contact info provided, please email president@jetband.org if you are interested in any of the following opportunities:
Co-Chairs Needed
Scrips (Help to advertise the Scrips program, assist with orders and recordkeeping, and deliver any physical gift card orders – scrip.cards@jetband.org )
Coordinators Needed
Concert Uniforms (Measure students for fit and organize distribution of concert uniforms)
Marching Uniforms (Measure students for fit and organize distribution of concert uniforms, supervise student uniform crew. Marching.uniforms@jetband.org )
Used Band Gear
There is a supply of used band gear that is available to anyone who can make use of those items. If you are in need of band gear or would like to donate, please email David & Christy Bailey at chaperones@jetband.org to make arrangements.
Scrips
Earn money for your student’s Charms account with money that you had planned to spend anyway! This is a great way to add money to your student’s account through rebates and lessen your out of pocket band/guard expenses.
Scrips for physical gift cards will be ordered according to the following schedule for the year.
Orders will be placed at 8 am on the following dates:
Order Placed | Estimated Delivery Date |
October 26th | October 30th |

Spirit Wear/ Items
There are two ways to order spirit items – through shop.jetband.org or through our band and guard SquadLocker shops. The items on our website are ordered in bulk and delivered at specific announced times. While we will not be placing a bulk order for spirit clothing in the near future, you can order water bottles, clear stadium bags, and sunglasses for quick pick up any time.
Order your JET Band and Color Guard gear on your own at any time through our SquadLocker shops for delivery directly to your home! Those orders are individual and will be shipped to your home directly from the manufacturer.
