Eric Weingartner is currently in his eight year as the Associate Director of Bands at Homestead High School in Cupertino, California. His teaching responsibilities include Wind Ensemble II, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and co-director of the Mighty Mustang Marching Band.
In 2016, the CMEA Bay Section awarded Eric the Gilbert T. Freitas Memorial Award for outstanding achievement in instrumental music education.
Eric began his undergraduate degree at Arizona State where he studied with Sam Pilafian. Eric transferred to Butler University in 2007, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in instrumental music education.
Eric has also been active serving the music education community in the greater Bay Area and beyond. He has served as Librarian for the Santa Clara County Honor Band, has been a member of the CBDA Special Projects Committee, and since 2014 has been a Band Manager for CBDA All-State Honor Bands. He has also presented clinics at CASMEC in 2016 and 2018.
Eric is a Brass Instructor for the Blue Devils ‘A’ Drum and Bugle Corps from Concord, CA as well as the Brass Caption Head for Blue Devils ‘B’. In 2014 and 2016, BDB won the DCI Open Class Championship, along with the Best Brass Performance caption award both seasons. Eric was a performer with The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps from 2002-2008 on baritone and euphonium.
While living in Northern California, Eric has been active performing in the music community with the San Jose Wind Symphony, Silicon Valley Brass Band, Mission Peak Brass Band, San Jose Youth Symphony, Palo Alto Philharmonic, and the Chabot Wind Symphony.
Eric currently maintains a private studio of tuba and euphonium players that have earned spots in the San Francisco Youth Orchestra, CBDA All-State Jr. High and High School Honor Bands, as well as the Santa Clara County Honor Band.
Eric’s professional affiliations include NAfME, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the California Band Directors Association.
