Congratulations to Junior euphonium and Drum Major Shelby Burton for making All-State Band for her second year in a row. Senior Drum Major Emmie Siebert made All-State Choir. They’ll be performing at the TMEA Clinic in San Antonio next month.
This weekend is the Region Band Clinic and Concert at Seven Lakes for our students that made a band. Those students will need to have their concert uniform ready on Saturday. Friday they need to be at Seven Lakes at 5:00pm.
Monday, January 27th is our next concert. At this concert we’ll start with the Wind Ensemble at 7pm since the 8th graders will be with us. After the Wind Ensemble’s performance with the 8th graders, the Wind Ensemble will perform some of our UIL selections that we started preparing last week. After the Wind Ensemble the Cadet Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band will each perform some of our UIL selections.
KISD Rodeo Parade: Saturday, Feb 15 we are marching in the KISD Rodeo Parade that morning. Up until 2 years ago every KISD HS marched in the parade every year as a giant combined marching band, but then we decided to rotate every 5 years and have 2 schools perform each year. This is our year. We will be in full uniform.
UIL Solo/Ensemble entries are due next Friday, Jan 24th. QR Code is on the whiteboard in the band hall.

Congratulations to our All-State performers! Concert season and winter guard season are in full swing. Please take a moment to see the important dates below and mark your calendars.
We would love to have our annual garage sale in April. Unfortunately, we do not have a coordinator lined up to manage it. If you would be interested in helping to coordinate this event or would like more information, please email email@example.com. There will be a couple of drop off dates in the next couple of months, so please look through your things and set aside anything that is in good condition that could be a great garage sale find for another family.
Our annual mattress fundraiser will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020. The parent meeting will be held on February 4, 2020. This is a major fundraiser for us which involves no donations and very little work other than raising awareness in the community that we are holding the sale. More details coming soon!
Winter Guard Fundraiser
Our winter guards are in the midst of their calendar fundraiser. Each member has a calendar for the month of February. They are each looking for a sponsor for each day. So if you choose to sponsor the first, you pay $1. If you choose the 20th, you pay $20 and so on. It’s a great, simple way to help our guards cover the cost of the many things needed to put fantastic shows on the floor for their competitive winter season. Please help support them by spreading the word and supporting your friends in winter guard.

Spirit Stores and JET Band Assistance Fund
Missed out on the group spirit wear orders? Looking for something different and new? Check out these two online shops for more spirit wear and gear options! Items in these shops will be shipped directly to you rather than being ordered as part of a group. Cold weather gear including hats, jackets and an array of hoodies are available.
These shops will be available throughout the year and 5% of each sale will go to the JET Band Student Assistance Fund to help provide for those students who may have a need for help with meeting the expense of participating in band and guard.
Generous alumni parents have offered matching funds for donations to the JET Band Student Assistance Fund. If you’d like to help, you can donate in any amount by check made out to JET Band Boosters, in an envelope labeled “JET Band Assistance Fund”, and drop it into the band safe.
Now that marching season is over, it’s a great time to go back through the thousands of photos that were taken throughout the season by our fantastic team of photographers.
