Message from Mike Ary, Director of Bands
Spring concerts this Thursday starting at 7pm. Unlike our other concerts, students are not required to wear our formal concert uniform. They may wear their own “Sunday best.” For guys, that would be like slacks with a dress shirt and tie; for girls, a dress or other nice outfit. No jeans. If your student doesn’t have anything nice to wear, then they can still wear the band’s concert uniform. Don’t go and buy anything for this. Also unlike other concerts, we will all be in the audience for each other’s concert. So at 7pm everyone should be in the PAC with the JV band on stage. After JV finishes, Cadet will quickly grab their stuff and warm up briefly on stage, and so on until the Wind Ensemble is finally on stage.
This Friday, all school-owned instruments must be checked-in. If your student has a home horn, please get it back up here this week.
Message from Spencer Bennett, Band Booster President
I hope everyone enjoyed the Band Banquet. Steve and Ann Wigger sure did a great job organizing everything for us. KISD staff was amazing coming in on their paid day off and the food was great! I also hope the parent band concert summoned a calling for every parent to join next year!
We still have a few yearbooks for sale. The Band Yearbooks are available with Mrs. Melissa Martin in the band office to pay by cash/check/Charms balance. Or send an email to Jenny Singson at email@example.com.
Also, for the few late Band Banquet tickets, please make payment to the Band Hall safe ASAP.
Important Dates to remember
- May 15th – THSSO Concert
- May 16th – Band Concert – 7pm
- May 23rd – Last Day of School!
For next year, we are introducing a new way to communicate volunteer opportunities and track volunteer hours worked throughout the year. We will be using the Helper Helper platform which provides a website and mobile app for accessing opportunities and streamlines the signup process when volunteering. To get started, we need each student and parent to click here to register.
There are 3 steps:
- Select your class year team (Parent for each year that you have a student in or if a student, just the Student year that you are in)
- Choose your section (Parents choose each section that you have a child in)
- Select the volunteer opportunities that you are interested in (Choose as many as you would like, this is not a binding agreement, simply an indication of interest)
That’s it! Should take just a few minutes. Send any questions to Shakira Luna at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Seniors had their Concert Portraits taken by Piche Photography at the last concert. You can access and order your photos here:
- Click here to access the site.
- Enter your email address.
- Enter ‘thsbandseniors2019’ for the session name.
- Retouching of pictures is included with any purchase.
Scrip cards are still available for Graduation. Please note – final orders will be placed today. Orders usually arrive on the following Friday. Please email Amy Fowler (email@example.com) with any questions.
Graduating Seniors Gear
If you have a graduating Senior and don’t know what to do with their band gear – donate it back to the Band! All incoming Freshmen and upper classmen will be in need of gear this next season. Just bring whatever gear you have and put in the donation box in the Band Hall. It will be much appreciated!
Deadline for reporting final hours will be the 20th of May – one week left! Please get all hours into Angie by then. firstname.lastname@example.org
