Message from Mike Ary, JET Band Director
Last night we continued our streak of straight 1’s in UIL Region Marching band that goes back further than anyone can remember. Follow the link (UIL Area Itinerary) to our itinerary for this Saturday’s Area contest. Please note that Saturday’s rehearsal start time is to be determined based on whether the rain allows us to practice today or not. Also note that the Finals times won’t be set until Saturday evening when we know who all advances to Finals. We have already drawn for the order so I have made an educated guess as to when our time will be, but it could move forward or backwards 15 minutes.
We have a strong chance of advancing to the 6A State Marching Contest in San Antonio on Monday, November 5th and Tuesday, November 6th. If we do advance, I’ll have more details about that trip next week. The JET Band has only advanced to the State Marching Contest twice: 1984 at the 4A level and 2002 at the 5A level.
Saturday will be an exciting day. I hope to see you all out there. Make lots of noise for our students!!!

Message from Spencer Bennett, JET Band President
WOW we were AWESOME yesterday earning straight 1’s! Who else with me had goose bumps?
Saturday will be another exciting day to take-in all the action. Itinerary: UIL Area Itinerary. I’ll be passing out “T” signs in the stands so wear your Taylor blue shirts and have your vocal chords ready to cheer-on our JET Band! We need to be LOUD!
Also, we especially need the help with volunteering for Concessions. Hear my special plea below:
UIL Area Marching Band Concession Stand
On October 27th, the UIL Area Marching Contest will be held at Legacy Stadium. The Taylor HS band is in charge of concessions again for this event and will need non-band students and any adults for the day and evening. We ask both parent and student volunteers (NHS, FFA, Mustangs Volunteering Proudly, those in need of church or charity league hours, etc.) to sign up for a time slot. Adults volunteering will be handling money and concession prep. The kids will be fetching food for customers, and helping with set up and clean up. All can stay and watch the shows, before and after their shift.
Please sign up for multiple shifts if you can! It will be really helpful to have trained workers on hand from one shift to the next. Feel free to pass along the signup links to your friends who may have students in need of volunteer hours.
Our band will benefit greatly from the proceeds of this event, so please help out if you can. Thanks in advance for your support!
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for being such a great booster club! We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our GREAT parents.
See everyone Saturday!!!
