Schedule for this week
- Monday – No marching band after school. Monday evening is the THS Open House. Since we are now in the 6thweek of band, there’s no need for any formal presentation of what band is. We had that meeting back on July 23! If you’d like to swing by and say Hello or ask any questions, we’ll be here. If you don’t want to make the trek from the academic side of the building to the band hall, I’m sure we’ll catch you at one of our many performances.
- Tuesday – Rehearsal 3:30-6:00pm
- Wednesday – Rehearsal 3:30-6:00pm
- Thursday – Rehearsal 3:30-6:15pm (most Thursday we go until 6:15 – that gets us up to 7 hours and 45 minutes of scheduled rehearsals of our 8 hours of allotted rehearsal time. Although this year the UIL 8 Hour Rule doesn’t start until after Labor Day weekend)

We need to leave as close to 4:30 as possible, but we have to wait for the bus drivers to finish their routes. Driving across town on the Friday evening of Labor Day weekend will be a mess, but we will try to get to the game before kickoff. Parents please be sure you are receiving my Remind texts as I will text when we are leaving Humble and again when we are about 15 minutes out from arriving back at the school. These are long days for the Band Directors so we’d like to get home to our families as soon as all the equipment is back inside and the uniforms are turned in.
On the inside of the door to the band hall, we have posted a list of the band students and what forms have or have not been turned in. By now we should have the physical, the consent to treat & travel, the UIL 8 Hour Acknowledgment, the Handbook Signature page, and the financial Commitment Form. Over the past week we have been reminding the students to check the list and get any outstanding forms turned in. All forms are in Charms. Most important for this week is the Consent to Treat & Travel. If your student needs to be treated by a medical professional while we are traveling outside of the district, this piece of paper gives them your permission to treat your student. If your student does not have this piece of paper turned in before Friday morning, your student will not board the bus Friday night and will receive a Zero for the major grade of a performance.
First game at Atascocita on Friday, 8/31
The Humble ISD Athletic Department will not be sending out tickets for pre-sale for the varsity football games that will be played at Turner Stadium. Our pre-sale tickets are being offered on line at https://www.etix.com/ticket/v/13212/humble-isd. Tickets will be available to purchase on Monday the week of the game.
KISD has changed the yearly maintenance fee for instruments. In the past, students were to pay $100 per instrument per year for use of a KISD instrument. Now students are to pay $80 per instrument and we are calling the fee a Usage Fee. This usage fee covers regular maintenance and repairs that are needed that are not due to student negligence. This fee is minimal compared to what it would cost to rent an instrument from a music store. The attached Agreement form further explains the Usage Fee and needs to be signed and returned to the band directors.
We have been asked to collect this fee from all students that are using KISD instruments by October 1st. Checks should be made out to KISD (not JET Band).

Howdy! I hope all parents had a good week getting their students adjusted to starting school! From now till November every week will be filled with information and schedules of football games and contests. Let’s get ready for a great season!

JET Band Raptor Information and Chaperone/Loading Crew/General Volunteer Sign-Up
It is a mandatory requirement that all volunteers for the band be pre-screened through the Katy ISD Raptor System. This includes ALL volunteer committees (KISD employees, mum room, chaperones, loading crew, JET Fuel, uniform distribution, etc.) We love and appreciate our volunteers. Please do not make us have to turn you away.

*All chaperones receive free entry to the games and transportation is provided in a “yellow” limousine (AC usually included)!

A great and easy way to support this fundraiser is to buy your mums from our wonderful mum team and encourage friends to purchase their mums through us. We will also need volunteers to help with mums. No crafting experience needed, only the will to help and the desire to make great friends. Everything is pre-made. You assemble the pieces together and put your personal touch on it. There are instructions and guidelines to assemble a mum. The more people we get to make mums, the more orders we can take and the more money we can make! Another way to help is distribution – help with calls, help with pickup after or during school hours. There is still space available for ads. Large scale business logos are $2,000/year and smaller business logos are $1,000/year. JET Band Jingle
The holidays are coming soon and we are in the early stages of developing a NEW holiday event this year for the JET Band. The Boosters would appreciate your help in planning the first annual JET Band Jingle in the Park. During the holiday season, the JET Band will perform a selection of holiday songs at a neighborhood park to share an evening of holiday cheer with friends, family and the community. Date to be determined soon.
