Recognitions 2011-2012

CONGRATULATIONS !!!

Congratulations to two of our own JET Band moms for being named Volunteer of the Year at the KISD Volunteers in Public Schools Celebration this week.  Penny Hafner was named Volunteer of the Year for Taylor High School, and Stephanie Place was named Volunteer of the Year for Memorial Parkway Jr. High School.

These two ladies are wonderful examples of the selfless dedication that you, our JET Band parents, give to for our kids every day.  To date, you have logged over TEN THOUSAND volunteer hours for the JET Band; and these are just the ones youíve actually turned in! I bet the actual number is much higher.  I canít thank you enough for what you do for JET Band and how you affect the lives of these young women and men.

Congratulations again to Mrs. Hafner and Mrs. Place. I canít wait to see the next JET Band mom or dad posing as the example of what makes Taylor High School so great!

With deepest gratitude,

Christopher Bailey

Mr. Bailey received the following thank you note on August 23rd from our Marching Uniform Chairperson:

Mr Bailey,

I know our band kids are the best but the kids who volunteered to help with uniform fittings were AWESOME! Yes, they got in their NHS hours but what they gave the JET Band in return was immeasurable! Starting with the uniform captains, Kim Spaulding and Megan Lawson, not only did they work hard, Megan silently manned the check in desk on all 3 fitting days and Kim rounded up kids to help on all 3 days. They both displayed leadership qualities that should get them far in their lives. They were reliable, punctual, polite, helpful, friendly and always willing to go that extra mile.

Pant fittings was under the awesome supervision of Alison Nasr and Kaytlin Haney. After the first day they managed pant fittings without parent supervision on all the other days. How amazing is that? They would make amazing seamstresses!!

Here is a complete list of students who helped me out with uniform fittings and truly I would not have been able to do it without them! I would like them to know that! THANK YOU!!!

Most of these kids volunteered for the full 6 hours (8:30am through 3:00pm) on all 3 days! If I missed out on mentioning anyone's name, I apologize and it was not intentional!
