See notes at bottom for important updates to this information (posted 1.28.08)...

The annual Winter Dinner, Concert, and Silent Auction is set for Monday evening, February 4, 2008.

Dinner:  We need volunteers for the dinner to help with decorations, serving, bake sale bakers & bake sale workers.  Gretchen McCormack and Laurie Sawyer are leading the Dinner team and Cheryl Hollabaugh is leading the Bake Sale.  If you want to help, please e-mail dinner.concert@jetband.org.

Click here for an order form for the dinner tickets.  Remember, this is the one concert of the year where a ticket is required for admission.  You can also order tickets online by clicking here.

Auction:  Mari Kramer is serving as the Auction Committee Chairman.  Click here for more information about auction donations.  Please start thinking about items you could donate for the auction.  In addition to the theme baskets from each band/group, some of the items that were very popular last year were tickets to the Houston Rodeo, concerts, sports teams like the Rockets or Aeros, and the Shell Open.  Susie Kolodziej will serve as the Band Basket Coordinator for the Auction and has developed a range of basket themes so that we have a good mix of items for auction.
Band Basket Coordinators and basket themes
are listed below.  Click on the theme name for more details, including your coordinator's contact information:

Wind Ensemble:  Vivian Phillips.  Theme "Dorm Room Essentials"
Symphonic Band:  Sandi Dunlap.  Themes "Gift Cards Galore" and "Comfy Cozy Collection"
Concert Band:  Debbie Petty.  Themes "Coffee House Collection" and "Be My Valentine"
Cadet Band:  Margo Schermerhorn.  Theme "A Night in Italy"
JV Band:  Margaret Ewald.  Themes "Pretty, Pretty Princess" and "Pirates--Ahoy!"
Color Guard:  Terri Brodecki.  Theme "Gift Card Tree"
Drumline:  Brenda Shaver.  Themes "Aggies" and "Longhorns"

Our band families are always generous, but ideally, we would like to obtain donations from the local business community.  Auction Committee members and Band Booster Board members are contacting businesses as they can, but it is much too big a job to rely on a few people to solicit business donations in the short timeframe remaining before the auction.  Therefore, we ask all band families to please consider soliciting businesses that you patronize, or with whom you have a personal relationship, to ask for auction donations.  These donations are very important to us having another successful auction.  Please e-mail auction@jetband.org if you would like to volunteer and/or donate items for the auction.

Last year's Dinner and Auction combined earned over $9,000 for JET Band, making it a vital fundraising event!

IMPORTANT UPDATES:

Click here for the itinerary of the evening's band performances.

Remember, dinner ticket orders must be submitted by Thursday, Jan. 31!

Auction donations are still being accepted, so it's not too late to contribute... we still want and need your donations! Cash, checks or gift cards can be put in an envelope and left in the band hall safe, but please send them no later than Thursday.  Donations can also be brought to the Band Booster meeting this Thursday night, Jan. 31, or call Mari Kramer @281-578-8298 or Susie Kolodziej @281-599-9884 or send them an e-mail to auction@jetband.org to arrange for donations to be picked up.

Also, if you have any good-sized baskets or nice containers taking up space in your closets, donate them!  We will need extras in which to package the donations.  Please bring them to the Band Booster meeting, or call us to pick them up.

If you are giving a check to your basket coordinator for her to shop for items, please make the check payable to her, instead of Taylor Band to save time.  Otherwise, your coordinator has to track down the JET Band treasurer to turn in that check and get a replacement check for the same amount issued in her name.

When thinking about donations, remember that services & goodies you can provide make great donations, too.  For example, you could donate "Pizza and Brownies for Lunch for 5 Students" and no doubt the kids would love to bid on that!  Or how about "An Italian Dinner Delivered to your Home" or "A pot of Homemade Chili & Fixin's" -- think about what appeals to you and be creative!

If you can solicit Katy-area businesses in the next two days, particularly the ones that you patronize, we would love to receive more donations from local merchants.

Finally, come prepared next Monday night to bid on all the great baskets, items, and services that will be offered at the Silent Auction.  You can even use a credit card via PayPal to pay for all your purchases this year!

Let's make the 2008 JET Band Winter Concert, Dinner, and Silent Auction the most fabulous ever!
