  • MARCHING SHOW MUSIC:  The JET Band marching show music is available online by clicking here.  To access the page, you must have the username and password which was furnished to all families through the Booster Blast last week.  All students should download the music and begin preparing for the first day of summer band.  If you play a split part, check the part assignment sheet as well.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. May at joelmay@katyisd.org (posted 7.26.10)
  • SCRIP CARDS:  We will be placing orders during the summer months on June 8, July 6, and August 3. Check out the Scrip Page for more details and start buying scrip cards to pay for purchases you would be making anyway, like groceries, gasoline, etc.  This is an easy way to earn money for your student's trip account. Don't delay... start earning money today for next fall's trip to the Sugar Bowl!  If you have any questions or need help setting up your account please contact Sandi Dunlap or Michelle Zimmermann at scrip.cards@jetband.org(updated 6.8.10)

  • MUMS:  Can it be? Is it already time to start working on mums? YES! The fabulous Mum-a-Mias are working on mums for Homecoming. ALL skill levels are welcome, so even if you don't know how to build one of those awesome creations, there will be work you can do (cutting ribbon, counting, stapling, sorting, etc.). Come to Room 164 on Tues, Aug 3, and/or Thurs, Aug 5 any time from 10 AM to 3 PM if you can - your help will be greatly appreciated.  Homework packets are also available for those who want to help from home.  Contact Patricia Maurin or Penny Hafner for information at mums@jetband.org(updated 7.29.10)

  • JET BAND MARCH-A-THON:  Taylor High School Band is starting a new and exciting event: a parade for the neighborhoods surrounding Taylor High School. Our goal in this venture is three-fold:
       * First and foremost, we want to provide entertainment for the supporters of our program.
       * Secondly, we want to gain exposure from the supporters of our program.
       * Lastly, we are going to use this as an opportunity to raise funds for the 2010-2011 school year. The members of the band will be accepting pledges or donations (donations recommended) for total marching distance.

In addition to pledges, for a minimum donation of $100, the entire 300-piece marching band will provide a small personal concert containing songs chosen by the individual houses or cul-de-sacs along the route (list of songs will be provided). These concerts and donations will take place along the parade route (click here for the map). Contact Chris Bailey (christopherGbailey@katyisd.org) or Kathy Miesner (march-a-thon@jetband.org) for a personal concert.

We will kick off the fundraiser part of the activity with the students on the first day of summer band. As this is a mandatory activity for the all members of the band and color guard, we encourage everyone to get out there and get pledges/donations from their friends and families. We will be asking each student to raise a minimum of $50.00 in pledges. Even if only ten family members, neighbors, and friends donate $5.00, that goal would be easily accomplished. The beauty of this fundraiser is that it is PURE PROFIT!!! We have a great opportunity to make a considerable amount of money for the program to keep doing the great things you’ve known and loved from the JET Band.  Please click here for all the details, links to forms, links to PayPal for credit card donations, and more!

Safety is a priority, so we will be working with local constables to secure our route and the students will be marching at a leisurely pace with frequent water breaks and will finish the day with a pool party at THS to cool off.

    STANDING ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • WANT TO BUY OR SELL AN INSTRUMENT?  Click for the Instruments for Sale page which has been updated with new ads.  Please e-mail webcoordinator@jetband.org to place an ad.

  • BUY GROCERIES, EARN MONEY FOR JET BAND!  It's as easy as that.  Click here for the details on linking your Randall's card or your Kroger card to JET Band.  They both give a percentage of purchases to JET Band as part of their Good Neighbor (Randall's) and Neighbor to Neighbor (Kroger) programs.  Can't ask for any easier fundraiser than that!

  • JET BAND DIRECTORY:  To be Earth-friendly, we've decided to publish the directory on-line instead of printing and distributing paper copies. (Thank you, Mr. Bailey, for that very clever suggestion!).  Accordingly, the directory is available for viewing by clicking here.  The file is password-protected, so you must enter the password before you can open the file.  The password was sent to JET Band parents in a special Booster Blast.  If you did not receive it or need the password, e-mail jetbandboosters@gmail.com to request the password.  You will need to supply enough identifying information in the password request so that we recognize you as a Jet Band parent.  Please e-mail directory corrections to jetbandboosters@gmail.com.  If you notice that your child only has his/her name, grade, and instrument, that's because we don't have a signed permission form from you.  If you wish more information included, send an e-mail containing the information that you want included and it will be added to the directory.

  • BP EMPLOYEES WHO VOLUNTEER CAN EARN MONEY FOR JET BAND!  If you are a BP employee and volunteer for JET band, be sure to track your hours since BP will pay for your volunteer time! Questions about how to do it?  Contact Dale Morrison at dale.morrison@bp.com or Danise Edmonds at danise.edmonds@bp.com.

  • MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC:   Check out the new Music Advocacy page on the website. This is a place where you can find articles about how music helps develop children in areas other than just playing an instrument. If you have articles of interest along these lines to submit, please send them to webcoordinator@jetband.org.
  • HOUSTON SYMPHONY PERFORMANCES:  Check out the Houston Symphony website at www.houstonsymphony.org for information on upcoming concerts.  If you are interested in attending a Houston Symphony concert, we qualify for a reduced group rate if we have at least 10 people.  If you have a group of friends interested in attending and would like to get the group discount, e-mail Jan at jetbandboosters@gmail.com for more information.

As always, thank you for everything you do to help make the JET Band so successful!
